If Hugs Could Heal Headaches

If hugs could heal headaches then that hug he gave me at work tonight would have done more than just make my stomach flutter... -JM

Don't Be A Halloweenie

Tonight, me and one of my friends embarked on an outrageous Halloween adventure...Halloween Horror Nights. I am here to tell you all that this is the best time you will ever have while being scared out of your mind! As many of you probably know, this year's theme is Bloody Mary. The commercials depict Bloody Mary as being super-duper scary but she is not the scariest attraction at Halloween Horror Nights- not by a long shot! Tonight, the event ran from 6:30 to 12:00am and in that time me and my friend got to do 5 of the 8 haunted houses and we also rode The Simpson's Ride, The Mummy (3 times), and Men in Black. All in all, we got to do a lot more than I thought we would. I was thinking that we would be lucky to get into 2 houses because I have heard horror stories about how long the lines are. I am so happy that we got to do more than I thought we would. I am also glad that HHN was scary but still fun at the same time. So, here is my review of the 5 houses I went in...starting with the least thrilling and leading up to my #1. Haunted House #5 is called Creatures. This one was fun but it wasn't really all that scary. This was the first house that we did and it is definitely a good warm-up house for those of you who are having doubts about actually going in the haunted houses. This house gets you in the mood to really get scared. Haunted House #4 is The Hallow. The story behind this house is that the Lord of the Underworld has trapped the souls of the damned and now they are calling to you for help. I think that the story is a little lame but the house itself was still really fun. It doesn't have much of a scare factor but a lot of people jump out at you- most of them are wearing goat outfits...don't ask me why. Maybe the Lord of the Underworld loves goats. #3 is- believe it or not- Reflections of Fear which is the Bloody Mary house. This one had the longest wait time because it is the main attraction but if you are really looking to get scared this is not going to do it for you. This house is mainly scary because it has a lot of flickering lights and loud noises. Some of the scenes set up inside are freaky looking and there is one hallway that is nothing but mirrors which is scary because, when the lights flicker, you see reflections of Bloody Mary. #2 is, Scary Tales: Once Upon a Nightmare. This house relives all of the fairy tales we heard as children only they have gone wrong. It features villains such as the queen from Snow White and creatures from Alice and Wonderland. There are a lot of strobe lights in this house which is really what makes it so scary and also there are so many people that jump out at you from all sides. And now for my #1! This house was by far the scariest haunted house I have ever been in! It is called Dead Exposure. This house features zombies, which might not sound very scary but trust me, they are. There are so many people to scare you in this house and it is pitch dark with the lights flickering on and off the entire time. There is this one part where there are dummies everywhere and some of them are fake but some of them are real people! You can't tell the difference until they scare the shit out of you! It was so much fun but I was so scared! This is the house to do if you really want to scream. At the very end of the house, as soon as we were going to walk out, this giant zombie-guy jumped out at my friend. Right in front of her! It scared her so bad and we laughed so hard! The scare-zones this year where really great also. My favorite one was Asylum in Wonderland but the scariest one was Streets of Blood. So, that was pretty much my Halloween Horror Nights experience. It was awesome and I cannot wait to go back next year! On that note, don't be a Halloweenie, go to Halloween Horror Nights! -JM

New Job= Drug Test

I have been a waitress for two very long years now. Lately, business has slowed down drastically. I have gone from making $100 on a four or five hour shift to being lucky if I even make $50. Because of our lack of business, a lot of hours have been cut so lately I have only been getting two, maybe three days a week. This just hasn't been working out for me. For the past few weeks I have been filling out endless amounts of applications in my desperate search for a second job and finally, it has all paid off! I landed a job at my local Winn-Dixie store. All I have to do is go behind the stock people and straighten the shelves for a whopping- drum roll, please- $8.55 an hour! The job is full-time and I have Saturdays off so that I can continue serving for extra money. It seemed like everything was finally working out, all I had to do was go and take a drug test and then return the form that says I took the drug test within the next 24 hours. Sounds pretty simple, right? Well, as always, I had to make a scene. So, I get to the drug testing place and I'm telling the lady how glad I am that I am taking the test now because I actually have to pee, and she is like "Good, then this shouldn't take too long." So I get into the little bathroom and get situated and I'm all ready to pee and then...nothing happens. So, I sit and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait until finally, I manage to squeeze about a centimeters' worth of pee out. Then I take the cup with my pee back out to the lady, all proud of what I had just done, and she stares at me like I'm an idiot and says, "That's it?" I nod my head. "Uh, it has to go up to this line, at least." she says. The line she was pointing to to was like three whole inches away from where my pee stopped- three inches is a lot when you have no pee left in you! She tells me I have to dump out the pee that I had in the cup because it all has to come out at the same time and then she hands me a bottle of water and points me to a waiting room. There I was, chugging this water, and feeling like really stupid. A few minutes later, I had finished the water and I felt like I could pee so I tried again. This time nothing at all came out! I was so frustrated and embarrassed when the lady handed me yet another bottle of water and told me to go and wait some more. As I sat in the waiting room, waiting for pee to come, people came in and out of the little office- all having successfully peed the right ammount in thier first try. I must have sat there for at least an hour before I tried again. Once again, my pee just wasn't enough. The lady told me she wasn't allowed to give me anymore water because it would delude my pee so it was up to me completely to produce the ammount I needed. I wasn't even allowed to leave and come back later because once they start the test they can't stop and if you leave, you forfeight the job. It was awful but, I sat there and waited. After a while I decided to try again. I decided that if I didn't make it this time I was just going to leave because I was going to be so embarrassed. When I went back into the tiny bathroom I prayed for pee to come. I sat there feeling like the little engine who could. "Ithink I can, I think I can," I thought and I willed my pee to come out. And then, like magic, like a gift from Above, the pee started flowing! I had finally made to the little black line! The only bad part was that before I made it into the cup, I missed and peed on my hand a little but don't worry, I washed it off. I was so triumphant when I took my pee out to the lady and she screamed "Yay, you did it!" We both had a good laugh about it so when I left I wasn't too embarrassed. Winn-Dixie, here I come! -JM

Karate Kid

Okay, so there is this guy in one of my classes at the college and, just for privacy's sake, let's call him Frank. Anyway, for a couple of weeks now, me and "Frank" have been talking quite a lot and I have kind of developed a crush on him. Well, had developed until just a few days ago. See, I have this problem with guys. I don't know why but, every time I start to like a guy, he turns out to be...well...um...gay. I know, it's embarrassing, but sadly it is true. So far, it is not a proven fact that "Frank" is gay, but I am starting to have my suspicions about his sexuality. First off, he does Showtime which is this really animated, kind of flamboyant type of dancing. I let this slide because I have met perfectly straight guys who take dance classes but, after the other day I am not so sure that Showtime is as innocent as I thought it to be. The class we have together is a speech class and recently we were charged with doing a demonstration speech. I demonstrated how to stage manage a show properly, something that stage managers rarely ever do. Anyway, when I asked "Frank" what he was going to demonstrate he said, "karate." I was like, "really," and I kind off laughed it off; he is a pretty shy guy so I didn't suspect that he was seriously going to go up in front of the class and do karate. Eventually, the day for Frank to give his speech rolled around. I made sure that I looked especially cute that day because I knew he would be looking at me for inspiration while he gave his speech- that's kind of like an unspoken agreement between us, I look at him when I give my speeches and he looks at me when he gives his. I had on this really cute dress and I made sure that my hair was nice and soft and shiny- I even threw on some blush and concealer; I never wear make-up. So, as soon as he gets up to give his speech, my worst fears were confirmed. There he was, in karate garb with a black-belt tied around his waist. First, he bowed to the class and then he started dancing around the room doing all sorts of karate moves! He had this awful look on his face, like he was going to karate chop all of us in half. There I was, sitting in the front row, looking all cute and what-not, watching make him make a fool out of himself. I feel awful because of the way I felt, and I still do. I was so embarrassed for him that I, myself, was embarrassed too. I hope all of this doesn't sound really bitchy or anything. I just can't help it. Now whenever I see him, all I can picture is him red faced and grunting as he performs his karate. I suppose it could be kind of cute, he teaches karate to little kids and that's nice. I feel guilty for the way I feel because after he finished his karate demonstration, he had to give his entire speech out of breath and the whole time he looked at me all puffed and proud of what he had done. I just sat there, with a fake smile on my face. I'm awful, aren't I? -JM

First, An Apology...

Before I begin, I would like to say that I am very sorry; I haven't posted anything since I first started my blog. For this, I apologize- that is no way to get people to regularly read your blog. I just wanted everyone who was been eagerly awaiting my next blog to know how sorry I am- everyone meaning my cousin, Matt. Anyway, I do have many things to write about that have happened in the past few days so instead of rambling I will just get to my other stories! Thank you to whomever is reading this and I appreciate any comments you may have! -JM

Getting Started

So, this is my first ever blog. I have to say that I am really jumping at the prospect of getting to come on here everyday and ramble about the things that happen in my life. I hope I get many readers and that I can get their feedback. I really love to write so I am going to try and keep my blog as interesting as possible. I would also like to say right now that what I want most out of my blogging expierience is to finally have the chance to be honest. I hope that people won't take any offense to anything that I post on my blog- not that I plan on posting anything offensive but, you never know what someone will be offended by.
That being said, I hope that you can come to enjoy and look forward to my constant blogging. I hope that this will be a way to improve my writing skills and a way to possibly meet some interesting people and read some interesting blogs as well!

Thank you for reading! -JM
